Chai Chowpatty Brewing a Youthful Café Culture from Hisar to India

When you walk into a  Chai Chowpatty café,  it doesn’t feel like the corner tea stall, nor does it resemble the kind of café where a single cup of coffee costs as much as a meal. Instead, it’s a place where Gen-Z vibes meet pocket-friendly pricing a middle ground that was missing in India’s café culture until recently.

The brain behind this idea is Akash Gupta, a young entrepreneur from Hisar, Haryana. Back in 2022, he opened the first outlet of Chai Chowpatty. The response was so overwhelming that within just five months, a second outlet was born. Soon after, customers themselves started asking for franchises, and within nine months, the brand had its first franchised café.

The Vision Behind the Brand

In Akash’s own words:

I noticed that today’s youth feel stuck between two extremes sitting at street vendors or spending heavily at fine-dining cafés. I wanted to create something where ambiance, quality, and pricing all match the Gen-Z lifestyle. That’s why we made chai our star drink.”

This simple yet powerful thought became the foundation of Chai Chowpatty.

What Sets Chai Chowpatty Apart?

Unlike the copy-paste menus you see at many cafés, Chai Chowpatty works with its own recipes, ensuring taste and quality remain consistent. The pricing is designed for students and young professionals the menu starts at ₹20 and goes up to just ₹149.

One of the most interesting innovations by the brand is the “Chai Thali” concept introduced for the first time in Haryana. And while most cafés charge a premium for items like pizza, Chai Chowpatty offers a big pizza for just ₹100 without compromising on quality.

Akash adds,

For me, the benchmark is simple—I will never allow any underrated item on the menu. Every dish should be something we are proud of. And beyond food, we want to create an ambiance where a customer walks in and says, Wow!

A Rapidly Growing Chain

From its humble beginnings in Hisar, Chai Chowpatty has now grown to 7 cafés across 5 cities and 2 states. And this is just the beginning. With more outlets in the pipeline, the company has set itself an ambitious but achievable goal 50 cafés in the next two years through its franchise model.

A Café Culture for the Next Generation

What makes Chai Chowpatty exciting is that it’s not trying to compete with luxury cafés or street stalls. Instead, it is creating a third space where young people can hang out, enjoy quality food, and not worry about burning a hole in their pockets.

In a market that is crowded with either high-end brands or small tea vendors, Chai Chowpatty is quietly building its own category: affordable yet aspirational cafés. And judging by its rapid expansion, the youth are loving it.
